Q:

What do I bring to the first session?

A:

Bring your insurance card and, if it is helpful, a few notes about what you would like to discuss. You may also bring a support person if you do not want to come alone. We have a comfortable waiting room where you can sit before your appointment. Your therapist will meet you there and bring you into a private, comfortable office to begin the session.

What clients say about Compass

“So grateful that we met with Kenedy. My daughter's openness with us has improved so much. We are grateful that our relationship with our daughter has improved and that we are now able to communicate better together.”

Compass client

“This doesn't feel like counseling. It feels more like a conversation about me. I don't get to have conversations about myself very often, so I was able to take my time, figure some things out, and move more confidently into my work life and family life while understanding more about who I am and my unique needs.”

Compass client

“When I lost my husband, I thought my life would end. Although my life will never be the same, I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to process and work through some of the hardest parts. I'm so grateful that I made that call.”

The Big Red lighthouse in Holland, Michigan
Holland service area

Rooted in West Michigan life

We support people balancing work stress, parenting demands, school transitions, and relationship strain in Holland and nearby communities. Therapy works best when it reflects the pace of family life, community ties, and the seasonal rhythms that shape daily routines.

We commonly support parents, couples, teens, college-aged young adults, adult women, and families seeking calmer communication at home. When in-person visits aren't practical, virtual care extends support across Michigan.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer appointments for children, and what should we expect?

Yes. Compass has multiple therapists who work with children and are trained in play therapy. We also provide counseling, guidance, and support for parents. The therapist will help your family understand what to expect and will explain how the therapy process can support both the child and the family.

Is telehealth an effective way to receive therapy?

Yes. Teletherapy is used every day at Compass. Whether you live in Holland and are unable to come into the office or live elsewhere in Michigan, we provide telehealth therapy that is convenient and easy to access. We send you a secure link for your appointment, allowing you to receive effective care from a private location.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Compass accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. If you have questions about your coverage, please let your clinician know. We can complete a benefits review to help you better understand your plan.
